1. The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) is working with key aviation partners to rebuild and reclaim Singapore’s position as an international air hub. People play an instrumental role in this rebuilding effort and are what will differentiate Singapore from competing air hubs also seeking to re-establish themselves to capture new opportunities as air travel recovers. The CAAS, in partnership with the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), NTUC’s e2i (Employment and Employability Institute) and Workforce Singapore (WSG), is organising an aviation sector-wide career and recruitment event – OneAviation Careers – to invite Singaporeans to join the Singapore aviation sector and be part of this rebuilding effort. Senior Minister of State for Transport and NTUC Deputy Secretary-General Chee Hong Tat will be delivering the keynote address at this event.
2. Themed “Join Aviation: Together We Will Soar Again”, the two-day OneAviation Careers event targets fresh graduates, mid-career professionals and aviation workers who have earlier left the sector during the COVID-19 pandemic to join the sector to support the sector’s recovery and transformation efforts. The event will offer a wide- range of jobs for Professionals, Managers, Executives and Technicians (PMETs) as well as rank-and-file workers. They include aviation policy, engineering, technology, sustainability, airline operations, airport operations, food and beverage, retail and customer service.
3. The event will feature:

   1. Themed career talks helmed by aviation experts and industry professionals covering the diverse career opportunities in service, operations, engineering, sustainability and technology. (Refer to Annex A for details.)

   2. Over 20 participating aviation exhibitors including Singapore Airlines, Changi Airport Group, SATS, dnata, FedEx and Rolls-Royce. (Refer to Annex B for the list of exhibitors.)

   3. Recruitment event hosted by WSG including on-site interviews by 20 aviation employers (Refer to Annex B for the list of employers conducting on-site interviews), and career coaching by e2i. Pre-registration for on-site interviews are now closed. Close to 3,000 applicants have registered. Walk- ins are welcome, subject to event capacity limit.

   4. Skills and training advisory by SkillsFuture Singapore to help job- seekers identify skills or training gaps

4. Mr Han Kok Juan, Director-General of the CAAS said, “As travellers take to the skies again, we are rebuilding the Singapore air hub, one that will be vibrant, safe, innovative, and sustainable. We are reopening Terminal 2 progressively and resuming works for Terminal 5 to expand our long-term airport capacity, growing our workforce and developing our capabilities to seize new opportunities, ride the waves of growth and position ourselves for the future. This is an exciting time for the aviation sector. We are replenishing our ranks and building our bench strength. We invite Singaporeans to join us and work with us to create the future of Singapore Aviation. Together, we shall be pioneers once more.”
5. NTUC Deputy Secretary-General Cham Hui Fong shared, “Our aviation workers are working doubly hard with the reopening of the economy and resumption of travelling. The impact is felt by both direct employees of the aviation companies as well as outsourced workers. The NTUC Aerospace and Aviation Cluster of unions have set up a One AirHub Community support group on Telegram to engage the community and offer assistance in any way that we can."
6. She added, "Beyond coping with the manpower crunch now, it is equally important for our workers to be future-ready. Through the Company Training Committees that our unions have formed in various aviation companies, we have identified future skills for our aviation workers and sent them to attend relevant courses. We encourage new and returning workers to continue upskilling themselves as the sector transforms so that they can take on better jobs with higher wages.”
7. “With the opening up of the aviation sector, job opportunities abound. We encourage job seekers to partner e2i on training and jobs. Whether you are a fresh graduate or a mid-career worker keen to join the aviation sector, you are welcome to speak with our e2i coach at the event or career centres to uncover what are the suitable job opportunities and avenues for professional development,” said Ms Caryn Lim, CEO e2i.
8. Mr Tan Choon Shian, Chief Executive of WSG, said, “The COVID-19 pandemic has caused much distress to those in the Aviation sector. With the reopening of our borders, the road to recovery looks bright and we are encouraged to see many employers coming forth to participate in this recruitment fair which signals a positive sign for the industry. WSG will continue to make concerted efforts in close collaboration with employers and industry partners to help Singaporeans with their job search efforts, and also take active steps to help them find a career that is rewarding and fulfilling for them.”
